Blog updates!

It's occurred to me that I've had the same basic theme since about... 2014. (And that was when I switched from Picture Window: Shade to Picture Window: Open.) While I've redesigned the blog every few years, most of that's been renovating the backgrounds and coloring, if with some fancier additions like gradients via CSS.  With a new decade officially in place and responsive design more important than ever, I decided it's time to fully redecorate! I'll admit I wasn't as big a fan of the default Contempo on its own, but with some CSS, the gradients and transparency are back and the ABYDOS-influenced color scheme is far more consistent across the site!

I'll eventually replace the background and header images (the latter image was first rendered in late 2014), but I thought I'd keep them for now to transition the theme more smoothly. In the meantime, I've been working on a couple of other projects I'm quite excited about (not related to ABYDOS), but it may be a while before I post more on those.

Seven Quick Takes Friday

So, it's been over a month since my last post and I haven't done a thing.  This is partially because I was: a. in New Jersey with my grandparents and cousin in early early July. b. packing up for summer camp in later early July. c. earning merit badges in summer camp for a week in mid-July. d. this is late July.  And next week I'm going on a family vacation. On to the other excuses for non blogging what's been happening: 1. Of course, there are all the minor details like my birthday , earning a learner's permit , signing college applications, etc. 2. Back with computer animation, I am happy ecstatic to announce that someone has downloaded my TARDIS model !  Somewhere, someone is using it for their own projects!!! 3. Speaking of downloads, I have downloaded and am coloring a Tardis interior from the same website.  To tell the truth, I actually like it that downloads all start out colored gray; it gives the person working with it something to do.  O

I've Uploded a 3D Model!

I've uploaded my Tardis model to 3dcadbrowser.com , a website used to upload--and download--3D models.  Apparently, there are multiple different 3D model upload/download sites, such as Turbosquid , where I got several Dalek models which I was too slothlike/ lazy amateur and inexperienced to make on my own. Finally--a Physical Mattework!

Here it is!  Using the same technique used in Star Wars* (although a bit shakier and with less axes) I've done an actual green screening/mattework using my brother's birthday present! It looks a bit cheesy, but I'd say a lot of the trouble is that the lighting was a bit wrong.  As well, an iPhone, despite recording at Super HD (aka 2.1 Megapixels=not actually that high), isn't quite at the professional level of video cameras.  Either way, the problem was that if I'd try to take away certain shades of green, parts of Oob's Ninjacopter would also disappear.  *Star Wars: instead of moving toy ships on Popsicle sticks like everyone else, Lucasfilm had the cameras moving while the detailed ships stayed still in front of a blue screen.
